Dr. Wong Shiak Sun graduated from Kasturba Medical College (Manipal Academy of Higher Education) in 1996. He proceeded to complete his surgical training in UM where he was awarded with Masters in Surgery in 2006.

Subsequently he did his subspecialty training in colorectal surgery in Malaysia and Thailand. Dr Wong specializes in general and colorectal diseases including:

• Laparoscopic surgery
• Colorectal cancer surgery
• Transanal microsurgery
• Haemorrhoids
• Anal fissures and anal fistula
• Rectal prolapse
• Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and cancer screening

Dr Wong has done research in the outcome of Transanal Rectal Resection in patients with Obstructed Defecation Syndrome.

Current practice

Dr Wong currently practices in Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Mawar Medical Centre and Nilai Medical Centre, where he sees general surgical as well as colorectal cases. He is proficient in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Thai and various Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Hainanese, Hokkien and Hakka.
